Participate in the Highlander Adventure at Big Bear Lake

If your plans have you in Big Bear between June 19 and June 23, you’ll be right on time to take part in the highly anticipated Highlander Adventure at Big Bear Lake. Registration is now open for participants who are looking to ditch the routine of daily life this summer and take part in a hiking event that’s truly one-of-a-kind. The Highlander Adventure at Big Bear Lake is a chance to connect with nature and become a vital steward for the environment alongside others with a shared passion for the great outdoors. With every step you trek in this event, you’ll be making a huge impact for good. The Highlander Adventure at Big Bear Lake isn’t a race, but a challenge for individual participants instead. It’s designed as a long-distance hiking event where trails are carefully designed so that every route available offers up a unique story you can take home with you when you reach the end. There are five routes to choose from when you participate including Ursa Major which spans 103 miles over five days, Hercules, which covers 65 miles over 5 days and Pegasus which spans 34 miles in 3 days. Participants can also try Orion which is a 2 day hike covering 18 miles or opt for the single day Lyra route which spans 15 miles of terrain. Participants will want to be sure they have a sleep system and cooking system in place for multi-day treks as part of this event as well as a compass, water, and first aid supplies. There are checkpoints set up along each route where you can camp, cook, rest, and connect with fellow Highlanders too. The entire June event is set up as a testament to sustainability, preservation, and promotion of nature where you can focus on healthy living as you accomplish big goals out in nature.

Travelers enjoying time in Big Bear on June 21, 2024, will want to be sure to check out Make Music Day! Hosted from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm, this event is a showcase of local musicians performing at various locations throughout Big Bear Village that’s sure to inspire. There’s absolutely no cost to attend, you’re just asked to bring your sense of musical appreciation so you can relish each and every performance in style. Make Music Day is always held on June 21 because it’s the longest day of the year and it’s been a staple event in Big Bear each June since 1982. This year, the event is expected to span 13 village businesses and a total of 34 bands and musicians will be gracing the performance lineup. Hosting venues include Stella Luna, Oakside Restaurant and Bar, The Breezeway, Queen Bee, O Koo Ran Beary Bliss, A Christmas Store N More, Sotheby’s Real Estate, Social Kitchen & Lounge as well as The Bone Yard Bar & Grill, and Nottingham Tavern Patio.

Take Part in Weekend Jam Camp

Whether you’re already an accomplished musician or you’ve always wanted to learn, June in Big Bear is the time to enjoy Weekend Jam Camp. Running from June 7 through June 9, 2024, this event is taught by Larry Kernagis and focuses on the Wernick Method as a route for participants to make friends through music and make music with friends. The event is hosted at 41076 Big Bear Boulevard and will run from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Friday, 9:00 am until 4:00 pm on Saturday, and from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm on Sunday. Tuition is $275 per person for hands-on learning in large and small groups, comprehensive bluegrass instrument instruction, overviews of music and tab reading, ear skill instruction, bluegrass standard teaching, and song leading included in the lineup of what you’ll learn along the way. Jam Camp is a chance to enhance your bluegrass skills, enjoy jamming with fellow musicians, and expand on a time-tested teaching method that leads to satisfying and successful results.
