What could be better than cruising around Big Bear Lake in a classic car, arm out the window, the wind blowing in your hair? How about lazing on a raft on the lake or on your lakefront deck with a cool brew in hand while you watch the parade of classic cars? Either way, the Big Bear Fun Run will be fun for classic car owners and for those of us who just like to look at them.
Annual Event
Held in the middle of August, this classic car show is in its 31st year now of showcasing all kinds of classic and antique vehicles. There are over 500 slots in this year’s show, and past vehicles have included a wide variety of entries from lovingly restored antique vehicles like a bright red fun GMC Cab Over, to custom jobs including a 4×4 corvette with glowing liquid silver pearlescent paint.
Really two events in one, the Big Bear Antique Car Club Fun Run is a car show and a parade. Starting on Saturday morning, classic vehicles start entering the parking lot at 7:30 am, and the judges start walking around to select their winners from 10 am to noon. Winners are posted around 2:30 pm, and the Cruise around the Lake starts at 3:30 sharp. The entire cruise lasts about 30 minutes and heads west around the lake. The drive-thru Awards Ceremony takes place at 9 am Sunday morning.

There’s no fee to attend the car show, so you can spend the weekend wandering through the lot viewing hundreds of vintage Mustangs, muscle cars, and more, surrounded by the beautiful San Bernardino Mountains. The proceeds from the car show and Fun Run will be donated to local charities. Past beneficiaries have included Friends of the Big Bear Library, Civil Air Patrol, and the Bear Mountain Dog Rescue.
