It doesn’t matter if you say “Merry Christmas” or “Happy Holidays”—as long as you’re filled with the spirit of the season, you’ll fit right in at the Big Bear Lake Village. As Christmas in Big Bear draws near and temperatures settle low, hearts warm and businesses begin to celebrate along with the rest of the populace. Being out and about just gets better!
The Joys of the Season
Streetlights get decorated with festive ribbons, and wreaths hang from doors. Christmas lights abound everywhere, and their glow reflects off the snowy sidewalks, giving the evenings a feeling of sunsets on the ground. In short, if you haven’t been to a mountain town during Christmas, you’re missing out!
One of the favorite decorations is the Christmas tree that adorns the Village, and one highlight of the season is Santa Claus himself coming to town to kick off the Christmas season by lighting the trees up along with the town mascot. The town hasn’t yet coordinated this year’s Grand Entrance with Santa, so keep an eye on Big Bear’s event website to set your schedule!
Christmas in Big Bear Lake
The Big Bear Village is a popular spot in the town, and if you’ve ever been here, you’ve probably driven by it a few times. Did you recognize the “Welcome to the Village” sign? If not, here’s where to find it:
If you’re in the west part of town, take Highway 18 east. After passing by Lakeview Drive on your left, the highway turns north—keep going straight instead to find yourself on Village Drive. When you reach the intersection of Village Drive and Big Bear Boulevard, you’ll see the sign! From there, head straight or left and you’re at the Village.
The instructions are similar if you’re on the eastern part of town. Take Highway 18, but head west. Keep a look out for Pine Knot Avenue on your left; that’s the intersection where you’ll see the sign! Head left to find the heart of the village.
