We suggest checking out Castle Rock Trail. The trailhead for this 2-mile loop begins just east of Big Bear Dam on Highway 18. Filled with granite stone and towering trees, it’s an impressive trail that leads to amazing vantage points with views of the water. Nothing elevates a girls’ trip like good food and when you’re ready to indulge in an elegant dinner, head over to Peppercorn Grille at 553 Pine Knot Avenue at least once during your journey. This sophisticated favorite in Big Bear is a great place to please the palate with selections ranging from Maui crab cakes and mushroom-spinach lasagna to lobster ravioli and shrimp and scallop pasta. Peppercorn Grille is open daily between 11:00 am and 9:00 pm with extended hours until 10:00 pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
Alpine Pedal Path
Getting into nature is a great way to bond with your best friends, but that doesn’t mean it has to be an off-road trek to be unforgettable. When you’re looking for a place to stroll, run or bike your way through a day, the Alpine Pedal Path is the perfect solution for your girls’ getaway. This route winds around the scenic northern end of the lake and offers up spectacular views as well as plenty of space to savor the sights. If you’re up for an afternoon of cycling, the professionals at Boulder Bay Bike Rentals have just the right bike for you. Peddle your way to fun and keep one eye on the sky as this area is known for its soaring population of bald eagles too! We really enjoy this path because it also extends through town and past some of the local breweries as well. You can easily turn this outdoor excursion into a party by adding a few stops on your way.
