Top Off-Road Trails in Big Bear

When the mountains call, sometimes they don’t give any instructions for how to get there. That’s when you take out your 4×4 and head for the hills! Of course, the back country makes for some great off-roading too. In fact, there’s plenty of great terrain to try out while you’re in Big Bear! Gold Fever Trail

This is a rather easy trail, appreciated for its accessibility. Its loop shape makes it great for an easy trip. Located north of Big Bear Lake, this is also the road used by many tour groups in the area.

2N90: Tip Top Mountain

This is an out-and-back trail that will get the oil flowing! It’s a moderate climb, with some rocks a foot tall and some water crossings a foot deep, depending on the weather. You’ll need the four-wheel drive for this one. However, the trail should be wide enough that you don’t need to worry about squeezes. The top is worth the trip, with some beautiful panoramas!

Cactus Flat OHV Area

The area has some beautiful trails, so it’s worth a look. The lower entrance is easy to access, and a great spot for beginners. You can find it by heading northeast on Highway 18 and turning Right on Cactus Road past Baldwin Lake.
