Get outside! If you’ve booked one of our vacation rentals with waterfront access, you can be out on the water kayaking, water skiing, fishing, swimming (if the water’s not too cold), and whatever else your dad likes to do. Book a charter and take dad on a fun day of fishing for trout, bass, catfish and more.
If your dad’s idea of fun is to spend hours hitting little white balls down wide-open fairways, head to The Bear Mountain Golf Course where the over-water features and other unique hazards will provide a challenge. This 9-hole/par 35 course offers amazing views of the surrounding forest and mountains along with great golf.
Take him on a hike around Big Bear Lake. The Alpine Pedal Path is an easy, popular, paved pathway with lake access and pretty picnic spots along the way. The Cougar Crest Trail and the Skyline Trail are both a little more strenuous, but both offer amazing views of the area. If your dad is a biker, Summit Bike Park at Big Bear Mountain Resort and Skyline Ridge are just two spots with mountain bike trails to explore. The San Bernardino National Forest also has biking trails, as well as hiking trails that wind around meadows filled with colorful wildflowers, beside trout-filled streams, over dusty desert plains and up alpine mountain peaks. Many of the park’s trails are ADA accessible and dog-friendly too. A couple of the area hikes to try are the Woodland Interpretive Trail and the Castle Rock Trail.
Take a tour! Take a helicopter tour for amazing aerial views of the lakes, Mojave Desert, and the San Bernardino National Forest. Stay close by your lakefront cabin and take a sightseeing paddleboat tour or take a trip on the pirate’s ship! Leave the crowds behind and take a private, guided kayak or boat tour around the lake.
