Fall in Big Bear

Getting Ready for Fall – The Five Best Things About Fall in Big Bear

After weeks of staring longingly at thermometers that are determined to stay in the red zone, we can finally begin to look forward to the cooler temperatures of fall. It may not feel like it where you are right now, but we in Big Bear have already noticed the difference. The night sky reluctantly gives into dawn later than normal, nighttime temperatures begin creeping out of the red and into the blue, and the sweaters we packed away last June are moving towards the front of the closet once again. Fall in Big Bear is our favorite time of year, and if you’re planning a visit during September, October, or even November, you will soon discover why!

Fiery Foliage

Fall in Big Bear is when the trees in our mountain village put on a fiery show before winter hibernation, and hiking, biking, or driving your rental car during this time period offers breathtaking views you won’t soon forget. Look up in awe at the brilliant oranges, fiery reds, and vibrant golds; just be sure not to crash! The second week in October is when the fall show is at its most beautiful.

Big Bear Troutfest

September 9th & 10th is THE time for fishing fanatics to head to the mountains. For over 13 years, Big Bear Lake has hosted this fishing tournament, offering tens of thousands of dollars in prizes, goodie bags, bragging rights, and trophies for multiple categories of winning anglers!

The Second Annual Big Bear Comedy Festival in the Village

Last year’s production was such a success, the powers that be brought it back for a second year! Held November 3rd through November 5th, some of the nation’s funniest comedians will be performing their best routines. Divided into themes, including adult ones, we can’t be held responsible for ribs that ache from laughing too much!

The 47th Annual Big Bear Lake Oktoberfest

It may sound like we are bragging, but our Oktoberfest celebration is kind of a big deal; you can’t hang around for 47 years and not be! Starting the weekend of September 9th and continuing for the next 7 or 8 weeks, Oktoberfest weekends promise to be filled with excitement, laughter, and plenty of German beer!
