Early 2020 has been a time like no other, one nobody could predict. Whether you are practicing social distancing at home or in the comfort of a long-term rental, there are a few guidelines to follow. Organizations such as the Center for Disease Control and the Red Cross have shared some helpful information to help you keep safe from COVID-19 in Big Bear. Here are some guidelines and tips to keep you safe:
Disinfect All Surfaces in the Home
The first step in avoiding COVID-19 is to disinfect all the commonly used surfaces in your home. Most household cleaners can get the job done. Since most stores are currently out of all cleaning supplies, you may have to make your own. You can clean off the surfaces of your home by putting rubbing alcohol or hydrogen peroxide into a spray bottle. Spray the surface and let it sit for at least one minute before wiping away. Be careful to not dilute the rubbing alcohol too much, as less than 70% rubbing alcohol in a bottle will not kill COVID-19.
Wash Your Hands for 20 Seconds
Make sure you continue to practice good handwashing habits after you have gone outside or if you sneeze. The same can be said after you use the restroom. Wash your hands for a minimum of 20 seconds with warm water. If you cannot keep track of 20 seconds, think of your favorite song and repeat the chorus a few times!
Cover Your Mouth When Sneezing or Coughing
COVID-19 can also spread through coughing and sneezing. Whenever you need to cough or sneeze, make sure you cover your mouth to avoid having particles spread. This is the reason why social distancing has been implemented to make sure we are all six feet apart.
Avoid Touching Your Face
During this time, it is important to refrain from touching your face. COVID-19 can spread if you touch your eyes, mouth, or nose with unwashed hands after coming into contact with someone who has contracted the virus.
