A Plethora of Activities for You to Enjoy
Big Bear Lake is known for its ample fishing selection of crappie, bluegill, catfish, largemouth and other species of bass, and rainbow trout, making it the perfect place for both avid and amateur anglers to hunker down and try to score their biggest catch yet.
The lake also has a number of boat launching areas and marinas, creating the ideal atmosphere for boating, water skiing, jet skiing, paddle boarding, parasailing, windsurfing, and other extremely invigorating water sports. The sunset sightseeing cruises offered on Big Bear Lake are particularly enjoyable.
While there are a select few areas for swimming that have lifeguard stations posted, the lake’s underwater obstacles and extremely cold water have led to swimming restrictions of no further than fifty feet out from the shoreline.
Around the lake, you can take walks and hikes on the wonderful local nature trails, which provide unbeatable views that put you directly between the shimmering lake waters and the cool, shaded, and seemingly infinite swathes of lush forest greenery (or beautifully desolate, snow-covered woods in the colder months).
You won’t find all that many mega stores or national chains nearby when you stay in this part of town; the west area of Big Bear Lake has charming, old-fashioned Mom-n’-Pop shops that invoke simpler days and invite you to contribute to a truly local business.
